Young Shire Council will be carrying out road pavement upgrades along Cloete and Zouch Streets during May 2016. These works are part of the funding provided
to upgrade the heavy vehicle routes through Young.
Mayor Brian Ingram said; “these works have been funded using the NSW Government Local Infrastructure Renewal Scheme (LIRS). The funding assistance is in the form of low interest rate subsidies that allow Council to borrow the funds and pay them from funds allocated in the long term financial plan. This allows the Council to take advantage of a very low interest rate, have the works completed so motorists can have the benefits without waiting and avoid future cost rises to do the works.”
To minimise disruption to traffic the Council staff have developed a pavement design that can be constructed rapidly. The Council’s Operations Manager,
Dirk Wymer said “the majority of the works will be completed as night works between 6pm and 6am with the road to be open to traffic during the
day. We would like motorists to exercise caution during the
construction work because there will be changes to parking and access to properties as the work proceeds. There will also be a high level of truck movements to and from the site.”
The works are planned to commence on Monday 9th May 2016 and be completed on Saturday 14th May 2016.
