Australia Day Award Nomination Form

Australia Day Award Criteria

Nominations are requested from residents and social, sporting, charitable, religious bodies, service clubs and organisations of the former Young Shire for the 2017 Australia Day Awards.

Council, in co-ordination with the Australia Day Council, will be providing awards in the following categories:

1. Citizen of the Year (open to any resident of the former Young Shire over 25 years of age)

2. Young Citizen of the Year (open to any resident of the former Young Shire who is no more than 25 years of age on 26th January, 2017)

3. Sports Award (Senior & Junior)

4. Cultural Award (this award medallion is to be presented for contribution to the cultural life of the community)

5. Community Service Awards (individual and service clubs)

Selection of each award will be on the basis of service to the local community, either in recognition of a particular event during the year or in recognition of a contribution to the community over a number of years.

Nomination for Former Young Shire awards are requested to be forwarded to reach Council’s offices by Friday, 9th December, 2016.

Draft South East and Tablelands Regional Plan

The NSW Government is seeking feedback on the Draft South East and Tablelands Regional Plan.

The Draft South East and Tablelands Regional Plan outlines a 20-year vision to build sustainable

communities by balancing opportunities for new homes and jobs with the protection of the region’s

natural environment.

The draft Plan outlines goals for the region:

- Sustainably manage opportunities for new homes and jobs arising from the relationship with the ACT

- Protect and enhance the region’s natural environment

- Strengthen the economic opportunities of the region

- Build communities that are strong, healthy and well-connected.

There are five distinct landscapes in the region: Alpine, Far South Coast, Greater Capital, Hilltops,

and Southern Highlands and Tablelands. Further information is available at www.planning.nsw.gov.au/SouthEast-Tablelands.

1979, notice is hereby given that a draft Voluntary Planning Agreement and Explanatory

Note between Hilltops Council and Rye Park Renewable Energy Pty Ltd will be on public

display from Thursday, 30 June 2016 to Wednesday 27 July 2016, at Council’s office in

Market Street Boorowa, East Street Harden and 189 Boorowa Street, Young during

normal office hours and on Hilltops website www.hilltops.nsw.gov.au.
