PROJECT PARTNERS

The ACT Government and the Australian Capital Regional Councils have been the project partners to date, with the Commonwealth Government's 'Networking the Nation' program providing the majority of funding.

STATUS

This Cultural Map was launched in August 2002 at the Australian National Museum, as part of the Regional Cultural Map project. The project will continue to develop, to enable further refinement, community input and the creation of new sites.

REGIONAL LINKS

In September 2001, the ACT Government received funding from the Commonwealth Government's Networking the Nation program to provide eighteen Local Councils in the Australian Capital Region with the means to build their own Cultural Maps.

Each Council received a copy of the template of the ACT Cultural Map application system, a range of media software, a training program covering the ACT Cultural Map toolset and support for twelve months from the Cultural Map project initiator, Sandra Davis.

The Local Councils participating in that project were: Bega Valley Shire, Bombala District, Boorowa Shire, Cooma-Monaro Shire, Crookwell Shire, Eurobodalla Shire, Gunning Shire, Goulburn City, Harden Shire, Mulwaree Shire, Queanbeyan City, Snowy River Shire, Tallaganda Shire, Tumbarumba Shire, Tumut Shire, Yarrowlumla Shire, Yass Shire and Young Shire. The outcome, when all sites have been published, will be a Regional Cultural Map, spanning the 18 Local Government Areas and the ACT.

The Cultural Mapping system was initiated, designed and developed by Sandra Davis, ACT Cultural Planner, and the Cultural Maps for each of the Local Government Areas have been developed with her assistance. All Intellectual Property rights are reserved.
