Young has a vibrant and growing cultural sector, and the Shire is fortunate to have a number of cultural facilities, talented artists and musicians.
In 2014 Council commissioned the development of the Cultural Infrastructure Masterplan, which provided Council and the community with an overview of current facilities as well as priorities to address the needs and to grow the sector. Work on implementing some of the priorities identified in the Masterplan have commenced.
Council also has a section 355 Arts and Culture committee, which is comprised of representatives from various cultural groups and Council representatives. The committee aims to manage the vision and long term plans for arts and culture in Young, seek and apply for grants and to provide recommendations to Council.
