There is an exciting array of events held throughout the year in Young Shire. The Visit Young website has the full list of events for the Shire, including both community run events and Council events.

Council runs a number of community events such as the Australia Day Awards Ceremony, National Cherry Festival and Lambing Flat Chinese Festival.

Young hosts the National Cherry Festival on the first full weekend of December with this years event taking place from the 4th to 6th December 2015 and is celebrating its 66th year. The event is traditionally at the height of the cherry picking season. This iconic regional produce event showcases the humble Cherry which has been part of the landscape around Young for over 150 years.

Key events include Cherry Pie eating contest, Cherry Pip Spit, Cherry Festival Street Parade and Markets. More information about the event can be found here.

The 2016 Lambing Flat Chinese Festival will be held on Saturday 19th March. This festival marks Young's gold rush history and the important contribution of the Chinese in the development of Australia.

Young Shire Council's Event Manual is a safety handbook to assist groups and event organisers of functions and events being held on Council lands. You can download a copy here:
